Her post-doctoral research involves developing a longitudinal cohort of younger people with neurocognitive disorders (BeYOND: investigating the clinical utility of novel biomarkers and other tests in people with younger-onset neurocognitive disorders), with the objectives of characterisation of younger-onset dementia (YOD) syndromes, diagnostic change/stability, biomarkers and other novel investigations for early and improved diagnosis and psychosocial outcomes in patients and their family members. Her projects have a strong translational focus and has received continual and annual funding and awards for her work, from the RMH ($100000), from philanthropy ($450000) and from Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. She has over 60 publications of which 25 are first-author. Dr Loi's areas of interest include, dementia, ageing, mental health and the use of technology to improve and streamline the care of people with dementia and in residential care.
