Experienced in demonstrating leadership and driving strategic growth in university settings, industry-university partnerships and centers of excellence, defense industries, and federal research organizations and in meeting societal health and security needs with cutting-edge multidisciplinary research. Highly competitive, innovative, passionate, persuasive, and articulate.
CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS
• Cybersecurity – Major impact on Defense Intelligence Security Agency (DISA), US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), and defense industry programs. Responsible for intelligent vision system algorithms deployed at US airports and MANETS deployed on critical missions.
• Bioengineering – Developed Graduate Certificate and Graduate Degree programs; the first of their kind in the nation with over 10M$ of direct and in-kind institutional and industrial support.
• Telecommunications - As Senior Executive, Industry Canada and Canadian Institute for Telecommunications Networks, developed research areas that had an initial impact of more than 50M$ on worldwide cellular system and network development.
• Aerospace – Responsible for the algorithms and sensors found in a variety of aircraft for a category III C intelligent landing system approach, a precision approach and landing with no decision height and no runway visual range limitation.
• Underwater Systems – Responsible for the design of a number of tactical and strategic submarine communications systems currently deployed by the US Navy and for ocean bottom-to-oceanographic survey vessel acoustic transceiver systems currently deployed in Canadian waters.
• Neurological Networks – Director, Global Center for Neurological Networks, a growing force in the understanding of the networks and language of the brain, with application to noninvasive, non-drug therapeutics for a wide variety of neurological dysfunctions and mental disorders.
