Dr. Sae Young Jae is Associate Professor of Sport Science at the University of Seoul. Dr. Jae received his BS and MS in Physical Education and PhD in Exercise Physiology from SungKyunKwan University. Dr. Jae served 11 years as Clinical Exercise Physiologist in Center for Health Promotion and Sports Medicine at Samsung Medical Center. Dr. Jae was a postdoctoral Research Fellow supported by the American Heart Association in Cardiovascular Exercise Research Laboratory of the Kinesiology and Community Health Department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, before coming to UOS as Assistant Professor in the Sport Science department of the College of Art and Physical Education in 2007.
Dr. Jae’ research interests are in the areas of physical inactivity and exercise with a specialization on cardiovascular function in health, disease and disability throughout the human lifespan. In addition, His research is focused on the interaction of risk factors and physical fitness on incident hypertension and type 2 diabetes in the areas of physical activity epidemiology.
He has published extensively on the role of exercise in modulating cardiovascular function in various high-profile journals within the areas of cardiology, physiology, and rehabilitation. He received several awards for research from the Pulse of Asia Society, Korean Diabetes Association and Korean Circulation Society. Dr. Jae serves as an Editorial Board Member of the American College of Sports Medicine's Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise Journal. Dr. Jae is the director of the Health and Integrative Physiology Laboratory, which is fully equipped to probe numerous aspects of systemic vascular structure and function.
