Bio
Mitochondrial and cytoskeletal dynamics influence numerous neuronal functions that range from maintenance of synaptic plasticity to initiation of programmed cell death. These events are critically tied to the ability of mitochondria to transport along cytoskeletal structures in order to supply ATP to sub-cellular compartments in need of energy. The Ryan lab's main research focus is the regulation of mitochondrial and cytoskeletal dynamics as they relate to both neurodevelopment and disease.
