Ronald S. Gibbs is a internationally recognized physician, medical researcher, and award-winning teacher. He is an American history buff and an enthusiastic map collector. Drawing upon these diverse passions, he brings to life The Long Shot: The Secret History of 1776, a compelling and imaginative alternative history novel. Growing up in Philadelphia, he developed a fascination with the American Revolution. These interests grew during medical school when he won a scholarship to research 18th Century military medicine in London.
He is President of the California Map Society and member of the Board of Directors of the Brandywine Battlefield Park Associates. An expert on infections in pregnancy, he has written hundreds of medical articles and some on history and has lectured around the globe. Dr. Gibbs has provided service to The National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control, and numerous other professional organizations and medical journals.
