After a productive academic career, I have recently shifted my focus to supporting scientists with IT and AI. My driving force is the advancement of Digital Commons: digital sovereignty, open source, sustainability. I am part of the Public Values team of SURF, the Dutch organization for IT in Higher Education. In this role, I am establishing a national/European facility for human-centered AI and co-chairing the national program by SURF about Digital Sovereignty.
At the University of Groningen, I advise the University Board on IT policy. Moreover, I co-supervise a handful of PhD students and give a few guest lectures.
