Ronald J. Midura

Ronald J. Midura was born in Providence, RI, on May 12, 1956. He received the B.A. degree in biology from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, in 1978 and the Ph.D. degree in biology/biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, in 1984. From 1984 to 1987, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD. From 1987 to 1992, he was a Staff Fellow at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, National Institutes of Health. From 1992 to 1995, he was with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Iowa, Iowa City. Since 1995, he has been with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Lerner Research Institute of The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, OH. He has coauthored 50 peer-reviewed, full journal articles and five book chapters. His research interests include the analysis of vertebrate bone formation mechanisms, the identification of matrix proteins involved in biomineralization, and the hormone regulation of osteogenesis and chondrogenesis. Dr. Midura is a Member of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, the Orthopaedic Research Society, and the Society for Glycobiology. He received an NIH Merit Award from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in 1992, and a Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Research Award from the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation in 1994.
