She is a Board-Certified Clinical Orthopedic Specialist in Physical Therapy. She is a recognized expert in physical countermeasures in older individuals with a variety of co-morbid conditions. Dr. Marcus completed a 5-year NIH-sponsored training award as a Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH) scholar in 2009. She has served as a principal or co-investigator on several intramural and extramural grants.

She is exploring the continuum of wellness and rehabilitation services that contribute to improved quality of life for healthy individuals and for those with chronic health conditions. Dr. Marcus is currently investigating the impact of exercise and physical activity on mobility and quality of life in individuals with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Other research includes the role of mobility as a quality indicator and predictor of discharge destination in hospitalized adults. Her research is funded by the NIH and local and national foundations.
