Dr. Moon's core expertise is in the processing-structure-property relationships of hierarchal-structured materials/composites, using a combination of experimental testing and molding to identify factors and mechanism that lead to the optimization of properties and function. Since 2007, he has focused his efforts in cellulose nanomaterials (CNs), were he is an internationally recognized researcher, participating in a diverse range of teams completing pioneering work in fundamental science, characterization, processing, and prototyping for CN use in various product platforms, such as, composites, continuous fibers, cements, flexible electronics, drilling fluids, food coatings, sunscreens, etc.
