Robert Paul Loughman

Robert P. Loughman was born in Zanesville, OH, USA, in 1971. He received the B.S. degree in physics from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA, USA in 1993, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in atmospheric science from the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA, in 1995 and 1998, respectively, with a focus on radiative transfer and atmospheric profile retrieval techniques. He was a Post-Doctoral Associate with the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD, USA, where he applied his knowledge to the problem of limb scattering and was involved in several projects, particularly preparation for the OMPS Limb Profiler Mission. In 2003, he joined the Faculty of the Center for Atmospheric Science, Hampton University, Hampton, VA, USA, where he became the Chairman of the Department of Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences in 2010.
