Bio
Reza Kalhor, an assistant professor of biomedical engineering, studies synthetic biology, cell and genome engineering, and developmental biology. He specializes in using nucleic acids as a medium to record, transmit, process, and store biological and non-biological information. The Kalhor Lab is developing new DNA-based recording tools for high throughput, high-resolution mapping of mammalian development, with a focus on brain development and developmental abnormalities. He is also studying novel ways of directly recording digital and analog information into DNA. Kalhor’s work draws on molecular engineering, CRISPR-based manipulation, and computational approaches.
