The major focus of my laboratory is:
To determine the mechanisms of pro-oxidative stressors including therapeutic agents generated oxidized lipids with platelet-activating factor (PAF) activity in impacting tumor growth as well as the efficacy of cancer therapy, primarily in melanoma, lung and pancreatic cancer models.
To evaluate the effects of potential pharmacological approaches to target PAF-R-mediated pathway with the goal of enhancing the efficacy of therapeutic agents including immunotherapy in such cancer models.
To define the significance and mechanisms of microvesicle particles (MVP) generated in response to therapeutic agents in PAF-R pathway mediated tumoral and systemic effects.
We explore molecular biology, immunology and pharmacological approaches including gene deletion/overexpression, gene array, qPCR, and flow cytometry with multiple novel cellular systems, relevant mouse models including genetic knockout and transgenic, as well as human samples for our research. Our basic and translational research projects involve collaborations with colleagues including Physician-Scientists and Pathologists.
