I am a medical doctor (specialization - Physiology) and have worked in a senior teaching role in an Indian medical college for 7 years after my MD. In 2008 I moved to the Netherlands and pursued my PhD in medical education. I set up the department of Research in Education at VUmc School of Medical Sciences in 2012, have headed it ever since and supervise 9 PhD students, 1 assistant professor and 2 postdocs. My core expertise is ‘motivation in education’. My vison for education is to develop ‘students for life'. My most significant achievements include being awarded the “Best PhD Thesis Prize” in medical education and being welcomed as Faculty on Self-Determination Theory of motivation. I am the Chief Organizer of the 7th International Self-determination Theory (SDT) Conference 2019.
