My research interests straddle a number of diverse fields and disciplines, including sociology, feminist theory, cultural studies and medical education. I use qualitative methods to understand and unsettle the assumptions that underpin ‘truths’ related to health, health care experiences, and medical practices. In particular, my work is concerned with understanding how women’s experiences with the health care system are shaped by a variety of discourses on health, citizenship, responsibility, and gender.
