Richard Price develops ultrasound-activated drug and gene delivery systems for treating cancer and Parkinson’s disease and investigates the mechanisms through which collateral arteries grow and adapt in response to changes in blood flow. Early in his career, Dr. Price performed seminal studies demonstrating that microbubble activation with ultrasound could be used to deliver nanoparticles across endothelial barriers. His current research centers on the use of MRI-guided focused ultrasound for targeting the delivery of drugs and genes across the blood-brain barrier for the treatment of brain tumors and the prevention of Parkinson’s neurodegeneration.
