I was initially trained as a radiation physicist with a special emphasis on environmental radiation protection. Under the radiation protection programme, I have carried out extensive surveys in normal and high background radiation areas and developed a number of national and international collaborations. Another major thrust of my study is the effects of ionizing radiation on materials to characterize them in high radiation environments for use in various nuclear and space applications.
