Bio
Qingyuan Zhang received the B.S. degree in mathematics from Shandong University, Jinan, China, in 1994, the M.S. degree in applied mathematics from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in natural resources and environmental studies from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, in 2006.
From 1996 to 1998, he was a Research Scientist with the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing. From 1999 to 2000, he was a Visiting Research Scientist with the Earth Observation Research Center, National Space Development Agency of Japan, Tokyo, Japan. In July 2006, he joined the Goddard Space Flight Center through a cooperative agreement with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He is currently with the Goddard Space Flight Center and Universities Space Research Association, Columbia, MD. His recent research interests include retrieving vegetation parameters through inversion of remote sensing models, multisensor data fusion, remote sensing of biogeochemical cycling and ecosystems, global carbon cycling, and global change.
Dr. Zhang received the Outstanding Student Paper Awards in 2004 and 2005 Fall AGU. He received an Honorary Certificate of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Prize from Beijing Municipal People's Government, China, in February 2005. He also received the TECH BRIEF INITIAL AWARD from NASA on May 18, 2010.
