I graduated in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol in 2007 and then moved to the Prof. Sir Tom Blundell's group in Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge, for my Ph.D and then post-doctoral research. My research focused on the structural and functional studies of protein complexes involved in DNA repair pathway. I determined the structures of key protein complexes in NHEJ (Non-Homologous End Joining) pathway, which is one of two major pathways for repairing human DNA double-strand breaks. During my postdoc period, I also studied protein complexes, such as BRCA1 related complexes, in DNA damage response signalling. In September 2018, I was awarded University Academic Fellowship from University of Leeds to start my own research group in the Faculty of Biological Sciences. My research group would like to determine the structures and functions of key protein complexes in DNA damage response (DDR). Together with various biochemical/biophysical methods, cellular studies and tool developments, we would like to work out the exact mechanisms of human DDR network. My group is also part of Astbury Centre, which aims to understand life in molecular detail.
