Dr. Zhang has been involved in gas turbine heat transfer research for nearly 20 years. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah in 2005, and joined the Osney Thermo-Fluids Laboratory at Oxford University as a research staff in 2006, where his work mainly focused on transonic turbine blade aero-thermodynamics (Rolls Royce UTC). Dr. Zhang became a lecturer in Aeronautics with City University London in 2014. Currently he is a tenured Professor at the University of Michigan & Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute, and also holds a Reader position (part-time) at the City University of London. Dr. Zhang’s publications received 2016 ASME Turbo Expo (Heat Transfer Committee) Best Paper Award, 2017 Global Power & Propulsion Society (GPPS) Best Paper Award. He was elected as ASME Fellow in 2019. Current he is the Associate Editor for ASME Journal of Thermal Science and Engineering Applications, and Guest Editor for Aerospace Journal.
