个人简介
Dr P.K. Sahoo is currently a Senior Principal Scientist at Structural Technological Division (STTD), CSIR-NAL (April 1999 to date). He is also faculty (Engineering Sciences) in the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), an academic wing of CSIR imparting Master's and PhD degrees. Prior to joining CSIR-NAL, he worked as a faculty member at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Orissa Engineering College (OEC), Bhubaneswar (February 1995 to April 1999).
He received his B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, in 1992; his M.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialisation in Machine Design and Analysis from NIT, Rourkela, in 1994; and PhD in Aerospace Engineering from IISc, Bangalore, in 2011. His Doctoral thesis titled 'Strength prediction and fatigue de-bond growth in bonded joints in metallic and composite structures' was carried out under the supervision of Padma Shri Professor B. Dattaguru. His PhD thesis was graded as 'Excellent' by one of the external reviewers.
He was awarded Raman Research Fellowship in 2012-13 to carry out his post-doctoral research work in the area of 'Multiscale modelling and analysis of nanocomposites' at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He has visited and delivered invited/ guest lectures at several academic and research institutes in India and abroad. He has been appreciated by the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), Germany, for his talk on his research work titled 'Fatigue de-bond growth in adhesively bonded joint structures' during his visit in December 2012.
He has worked both independently as a project leader and as a team member in various sponsored and research projects such as the Total technical life extension of MiG 21 Bis Aircraft (sponsored by the Indian Air force), Structural Integrity assessment of composites and adhesively bonded joints, Structural Analysis of Re-usable lunch Vehicle (sponsored by ISRO) and Multiscale material modelling of polymer nanocomposites (sponsored by CSIR). Currently, he is working on Fatigue and damage tolerance assessment of aircraft structures of SARAS Mk2 Aircraft (sponsored by Govt. of India).
He has about 35 publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings, book chapters and institutional documents. He has guided 14 M.Tech students of VTU and Manipal University in their dissertation works.
He has been the reviewer of prestigious international journals such as Computational Materials Science in 2013 and the Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology in 2012.
He has been the M.Tech and PhD dissertation reviewer and examiner for several institutes under VTU and Manipal University. He was the board of study member of the Mechanical Engineering Department, NHCE, VTU, from July 2015 to June 2017, and an advisory committee member of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, AIT, VTU, from August 2017 to August 2018.
His research interests are finite element and multiscale modelling of aerospace materials and structures, composite and adhesively bonded joint structures, nanocomposites, computational fatigue and damage tolerance assessment of aircraft structures.
