Bio
Mark Lokman works at the Department of Zoology, University of Otago. His principal research area centers around the endocrine control of oogenesis in fish (hormones and previtellogenic oocyte growth; steroid biology). Mark further has a long-standing interest in eel migration and reproductive biology - most notably, the regulation of silvering (the transformation that pre-adapts eels for their long-distance oceanic migration). Applied angles to his research focus on manipulation of reproduction in farmed aquatic animals (chiefly fish).
