After gaining degrees in Mathematical Statistics (Hull) and Statistics (MSc at Sheffield & PhD at Manchester) I started work for the Medical Research Council in 1992 at the Age and Cognitive Performance Research Centre in Manchester before joining the Applied Psychology Unit (now Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit) in Cambridge in 1994 where I am still based supporting the work of psychologists particularly in the clinical trials programmes.
