His research focuses on tools to help analysts, engineers and scientists clean, harmonize and integrate data from a variety of sources to produce datasets that they can analyze and visualize. Dr. Szekely is the lead architect of Karma, a state of the art information integration tool that can be used to easily integrate data in many domains. Karma has been successfully used to integrate data for intelligence analysis, in bioinformatics, environmental engineering and cultural heritage. Recently, Karma was used to integrate data for the complete collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum with data from other American Art museums to produce an integrate dataset of American Art.
