My research interests are focused on the processes affecting biodiversity in aquatic ecosystems, as well as the impacts of human activities on these ecosystems and on the functions and services they provide. In recent years I have been mainly working on coral reef ecology and restoration. Other interests include: ecosystem-based management, global change, ocean acidification, environmental impact assessment, invasive species, conservation, fisheries, aquaculture, groundwater-dependent ecosystems
