I'm excited about genomes of plants & non-human animals, because of their diverse evolutionary histories, chromosome structures, and importance to conservation of resources in agriculture and to understanding & protection of wild populations.

Homo sapiens genomes not so much, even though humans are some of my favorite people!
(Again, I'm just more excited about evolutionary novelties than in clinical genomics, or in software engineering or startups for their own sake.)

Also interested in parallel and cloud computing where it helps get the job done, and because of my graduate work in compilers for supercomputers.

My research and daily pipelining & visualization focus is better genome assembly & annotation through open-source software, efficient pipelines, and novel methods for resolving & validating gene families and chromosome ploidy.
