Bio
Paul Crook is a senior research scientist at Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) working on dialogue systems and multimodal interaction. He recently organized a successful Dialog System Technology Challenge (DSTC) track on situated interactive multi-modal conversations (SIMMC). Before moving to Facebook he worked at Microsoft where he led in the design and deployment of a flexible task orientated dialogue system as part of the Microsoft assistant Cortana. He was a founding member of the Interaction lab at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, where he focused on reinforcement learning under uncertainty for dialogue systems. He received a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2007. He is a Chartered Engineer, and Member of IET and IEEE.
