Patrizia Rovere Querini is a clinical scientist with a focus on the mechanisms that link tissue damage to persistent low-grade inflammation in chronic complex human diseases.
Her primary research interests include the mechanisms that guide muscle mass loss in aging patients, particularly under conditions of nutritional excess. Building on her experience with the link between deregulated clearance of dead cells, inflammatory processes, and the generation of autoimmunity, she is focusing in particular on the metabolic constraints that regulate this process both at the cellular and systemic levels. She leads an important network of clinical scientists, translational investigators, and biologists who cooperate on the generation and interpretation of complex data. She is the author and co-author of more than 350 publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, which have been cited over 24,500 times (data from Scopus, July 2024). With an H index of 84, she is among the most cited Italian scientists in the fields of Immunology and Internal Medicine.
