I currently work at the IRB Barcelona (Institute for Research in Biomedicine), as a post doctoral investigator. The IRB Barcelona is a prestigious research institution located in Barcelona, Spain, dedicated to advancing knowledge in the field of biomedicine. I'm Italian biologist and biochemist specializing in amino acid transporters and membrane proteins. I have contributed significantly to the field during the last 20 years. Amino acid transporters play a crucial role in cellular processes by facilitating the movement of amino acids across cell membranes, which is essential for protein synthesis and various metabolic pathways.Functionally characterizing these transporters and membrane proteins involves studying their properties, such as substrate specificity, transport kinetics, regulation mechanisms, and structural features. By investigating these aspects, I can gain insights into their roles in physiological and pathological conditions, as well as their potential as therapeutic targets. My expertise in this area likely extends to techniques such as protein expression and purification, membrane protein reconstitution in liposome, transport assays. Through my research, I have likely contributed to advancing my understanding of the fundamental mechanisms underlying amino acid transport and its implications in health and disease. During a year I worked at the IDI in Italy. Working at the IDI (Istituto Dermopatico dell'Immacolata) in the regenerative medicine laboratory with Dr. Michele de Luca must have been an enriching experience. Michele de Luca is a renowned Italian scientist known for his groundbreaking work in the field of regenerative medicine and stem cell research. I By mastering cell culture techniques, I gained valuable skills in handling and maintaining stem cells in controlled laboratory conditions. As a postdoctoral investigator, I'm involved in conducting independent research projects in the laboratory of the prof Manuel Palacín and I have access to state-of-the-art facilities, cutting-edge technologies, and a collaborative research environment. It is an excellent place to engage in interdisciplinary research, collaborate with experts in various fields, and stay updated with the latest scientific advancements. l design and execute experiments to address research questions, utilizing a variety of techniques and methodologies relevant to your field of study. I analyze experimental data, interpret the results, and draw meaningful conclusions from my findings. This may involve using statistical analysis, bioinformatics tools, or other computational approaches. I prepare research manuscripts for publication in scientific journals and present your work at conferences and seminars. I have the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers within your lab or in external collaborations. Additionally, I'm involved in mentoring and training junior lab members, such as graduate students or research assistants.
