I have been an occupational therapist since July 1986, and worked clinically for almost 11 years before commencing as an academic at The University of Queensland on 20th January, 1997. I commenced my research journey with my honours in psychology in 1998, and completed my PhD in 2006. In my clinical and research positions I have been interested in the factors that support and inhibit mental and physical health and quality of life. While initially focussed on attachment theory and the associated health and functional impacts across the life span, my research topics have grown to consider integrating attachment and sensory theories in occupational therapy practice. I have published two book chapters, and over 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals. I am a strong advocate and supervisor of Higher Degree Research Students.
