个人简介
I obtained a diploma in Physics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 1985 and later earned my Ph.D. in Experimental Physics from the same institution in 1990. My thesis, "Measurement of the electroweak parameters from Z decays into lepton pairs with the ALEPH detector at the LEP e+ e- collider," was completed while working with the ALEPH detector at CERN. This research contributed to the publication of "Determination of the number of light neutrino species" in Physics Letters B. 231-4, pp.519-529. ISSN 0370-2693.
After completing my Ph.D. thesis, I worked as a computing scientist for various institutions, including the UAB, CERN, and IFAE, spending a total of 13 years at CERN. I was involved in coordinating and participating in several projects related to the Aleph and ATLAS experiments and grid computing (EGEE). In 2003, I joined the Port d'Informació Científica (PIC) as Technical Director until 2005. I later rejoined the ATLAS collaboration at CERN at the start of the LHC operations in 2007 and served as the ATLAS Distributed Analysis Coordinator when the Higgs boson was discovered in 2012. The results of this discovery were published in the renowned paper “Observation of a new particle in the search for the Standard Model Higgs boson with the ATLAS detector at the LHC” in Physics Letters B. 716-1, pp.1-29. ISSN 0370-2693
Since 2021, I hold the position of coordinator of the ATLAS ADC Workflow Management area, where all the workflows required for the distributed data analysis of the experiment are discussed, implemented, and reviewed. I am the Principal Investigator of the project PID2019-110942RB-C22 "PROCESSING, SIMULATION, AND ANALYSIS OF DATA IN TIER-1 AND TIER-2 CENTERS FOR LHC PHASE VI EXPERIMENTS." I have also been the Principal Investigator of 5 previous WLCG-related projects at PIC since 2005, which were funded by the Spanish FPA program (FPA2005-07688-C03-02 , FPA2007-66708-C03-02 , FPA2010-21919-C03-02 , FPA2013-47424-C3-3-R , FPA2016-80994-C2-2-R ). I am also responsible for the management, planning and operation of the Tier1 at PIC for the ATLAS experiment since 2016. The Tier1 serving LHC experiments at PIC currently operate 50 PB Tape System, 15 PB disk, and a cluster with ~10000 cores (largest Grid center in Spain).
I have had a diverse range of roles and responsibilities, one of which has been serving as the coordinator of the ATLAS ADC Technical Computing Forum and Distributed Production and Analysis (DP&A) coordinator for the ATLAS experiment at CERN. This includes managing various production activities such as Monte-Carlo production, data processing, group production, and High-Level Trigger reprocessing..
My efforts are centered on the primary objective of advancing and enhancing information technology to apply Big Data analysis to the study of Particle Physics, similar to the World Wide Web, which originated at CERN, the technologies developed for analyzing vast amounts of experimental particle physics data will have significant implications for various other fields of science.
