I am Professor of Social Work at the University of Huddersfield and Emeritus Professor at Coventry University. For much of my career my research focused on social work and health inequalities but I am currently working on inequities in the child welfare system and have lead a series of studies funded by the Nuffield Foundation on inequalities in intervention rates between the 4 UK countries and the relationship between poverty, other structural factors and child protection.
