Osamu Sakai

Osamu Sakai (Member, IEEE) received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan, in 1990, 1992, and 1996, respectively. His major field of study in the Ph.D. degree was plasma heating and confinement using electromagnetic waves in mirror plasmas. He was a Research Engineer with the Sharp Corporation, Nara, Japan, and he was also an Assistant Professor and an Associate Professor with the Department of Electronic Science and Engineering, Kyoto University. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering and the Chief with the Regional ICT Research Center for Human, Industry and Future, University of Shiga Prefecture. His current research interests include monitoring technology, metamaterial science, plasma science and engineering, and network science. He is a member of the Japan Society of Applied Physics and the Japan Society of Plasma Science and Nuclear Fusion Research.
