Patrick Omoumi

Patrick Omoumi is the Head of musculoskeletal imaging at Lausanne University Hospital, and Professor at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He has trained in renowned academic centres around the world, including Sorbonne University in Paris, UC Louvain in Brussels and the University of California, San Diego. His research activities include the development and validation of novel morphological and quantitative techniques for the imaging of the musculoskeletal system, and the application of those for the understanding of the pathophysiology of disease. He is currently working on establishing new pathophysiological models of osteoarthritis at the Swiss Biomotion Lab and is the principal investigator of multiple projects supported by various funding agencies. From a clinical perspective, he has a particular interest in the applications of the Dixon technique to the musculoskeletal system, as well as AI applications in radiology. Patrick Omoumi has given over 100 invited lectures worldwide, and has authored more than 130 scientific publications, and 35 book chapters. He is the recipient of the 2022 International Skeletal Society President’s Medal.
