Olga Otero currently works at the laboratoire de PALeontologie, EVOlution, paleoecologie, paleoPRIMatologie (PalEvoPrim, UMR 7262), Universite de Poitiers. Olga does research in deep time Evolution of fishes based on their fossil record and phylogeny, particularly the lungfish Protopterus, bichirs, otophysan fishes, stem acanthomorphs and some percomorphs such as latids. Other works aim to extract any environmental information available from the fish fossils. These studies support reconstructions of past freshwater environments and changes in the paleohydrographical networks of Cenozoic Afro-Arabian inland waters.
