Bio
Nikolay Z. Zhelev received the B.A. degree in physics and mathematics from Colgate University, Hamilton, NY, USA, in 2009, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA, in 2016. His Ph.D. research focused on studying topological superfluids stabilized within nanofabricated geometries at ultralow temperatures.
From 2016 to 2021, he was a Research Scientist with the Sullivan Park Research Center, Corning Inc., Corning, NY, USA, where he worked on projects varying from studying fundamentals of glass charging, fabrication of organic transistors among others, but a particular focus was devoted to develop microfabrication techniques for Corning Ribbon Ceramic substrates. Since 2021, he has been with the Center for Applied Physics and Superconducting Technologies, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA. His current research involves studying mechanism of losses in superconducting quantum circuits, aiming to engineer superconducting qubits with longer coherence times.
