Nicolas Champollion

Nicolas Champollion received the M.S. degree from Université Joseph Fourier (UJF), Grenoble, France, in 2009, specializing in earth and environment sciences, particularly ocean, atmosphere, and hydrology, and the Ph.D. degree from Université Grenoble Alpes/Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Grenoble, France, in 2013, focusing on microwave emission of snow near the surface, at Dome C, Antarctica, with a modeling and field measurement approach. During summer 2008 and from January 2009 to July 2009, he studied the microstructure of snow, particularly the specific surface area, during two training courses at Laboratoire de Glaciologie et Géophysique de l'Environnement (LGGE), Université Grenoble Alpes/Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. Since February 2014, he has been with the International Space Science Institute, Bern, Switzerland, where he has a two-year postdoctoral position. His postdoctoral project is to improve monitoring of snow precipitation over Antarctica and the snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere with remote sensing. Dr. Champollion has participated in the LGGE Laboratory Council, the Ph.D. School Council, and more recently, the Scientific Council of UJF.
