His current research interest is in the areas of high-performance computer architecture and systems, computer communications and networks, and dependable computing and networked systems. He had been on the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, 1998 - 2001, and on the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1994 - 1998. He served as Co-Guest Editor of a special issue of the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing on distributed shared memory systems, September 1995, and as a Distinguished Visitor of the IEEE Computer Society, 1994 - 1997. He was the Chair of Technical Committee on Distributed Processing, the IEEE Computer Society, 1999 - 2001. He served as the Program Chair of 10th IEEE International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems (ICPADS), July 2004, and has been on the program committees of various conferences.
