My goal is to spend my career working on important problems and helping to make the world a better place. I think the development of human-level AI has the potential to be one of the most important things to happen this century, and the main focus of my research is on ensuring that this is a robustly good thing for the world. Currently, this looks like staring REALLY hard at transformers and trying to figure out how they work.
