个人简介
Prof. Nigel W. John holds a chair in computing at Bangor University, and is a Director ofthe Wales Research Institute of Visual Computing. He leads research activities ay Bangor in visualization and medical graphics. He was formerly the head of the Manchester Visualization Centre, at the University of Manchester. He has been responsible for a variety of projects funded by the Research Councils and European Commission involving visualization, and virtual environmentss. In 2006 he was awarded the 12th annual Satava Award to acknowledge his accomplishments in the field of computer graphics and medical visualization. In 2009, Prof. John was elected as a Fellow of the Eurographics Association. He is a member of the Editorial Board and Associate Editor of the journal Computer Graphics Forum (2011- 2014).
Prof. John also has extensive industrial experience. Whilst at Zeneca Pharmaceuticals, he was part of the medical imaging team that developed an innovative system for the reconstruction and volume analysis of three-dimensional freehand ultrasound data. At Silicon Graphics, he was the medical visualisation expert for the UK and subsequently a Business Development Manager for Silicon Graphics Biomedical.
