Muhammad Anas Imtiaz received the B.S. degree (cum laude) (with a Silver Medal) in computer engineering from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2014, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer engineering from Boston University in 2022. He works as a Senior Software Engineer with the Financial Analytics Department, Bloomberg LP. He has previously worked as a Software Development Engineer from 2014 to 2016, and a Senior Software Development Engineer from 2016 to 2017 with Mentor Graphics (currently, a Siemens Business). At Mentor, his responsibilities included development, maintenance and upgrade of several automotive software and legacy products offered by the company. His Ph.D. thesis investigated the presence and effects of churn in the Bitcoin network, and possible improvements in the Bitcoin protocol to help mitigate such issues as well as empirical comparisons between the performance of block relay protocols in Bitcoin Unlimited network. His work on orphan transactions in the Bitcoin network won a Best Paper Award at the IEEE ICBC 2020 conference. He participated as a Reviewer at IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management in 2020 and at IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management and IEEE Access in 2022, as a TPC member for the 3rd International Congress on Blockchain and Applications in 2021, and as a Shadow PC at the ACM IMC 2019 Conference.
