COLIN MORVANE, May 10, 1972, PhD, Assistant Professor in Cell Biology, University of Lille (CNU 65), France
Group Leader ‘Tau propagation in Tauopathies’, UMR- S 1172 ‘Alzheimer & Tauopathies’ department, Lille Neurosciences & Cognition, Lille, France
RESEARCH & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE- Dr Morvane Colin, is the coordinator of the project ‘Tau propagation in Tauopathies’ in the department ‘Alzheimer & Tauopathies’ of the academic Inserm institute UMR-S 1172 in France. She is Associate Professor in Cell Biology from 2005 at the University of Lille (Cell biology, Faculty of Medecine, North of France) and since she is habilitated to coach PhD students from 2007, she has been the supervisor of nine PhD students. She firstly acquired expertise in viral vectors and their genome engineering. During several years, she developed in JP Kerckaert’s and B. Quesnel’s Inserm units (Inserm institute U524/837) modified adenoviral vectors to target leukemia cells. The creation of the Jean-Pierre Aubert research center in 2007 associated oncology to neurobiology teams and was then a great opportunity to discover other scientific environments such as neurodegenerative diseases in Luc Buée’s team (Alzheimer & Tauopathies, partner of the LICEND ‘Lille Centre of Excellence for Neurodegenerative diseases’). Luc Buée has worked on Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) for more than 30 years and has a good background on both amyloid and Tau pathologies. His team has experimental AD models available such as the THY-Tau22 mice model and focuses on the physiopathology of neurodegenerative disorders. In this excellent environment, she has proposed its competence in vectorology to this team that was missing such approaches and has developed a rat model of slowly progressive neurodegenerative Tau pathology on the basis of lentiviral delivery of the human wild-type Tau protein to the brain. She coordinates one assistant professors, two engineers, phD students & master students which is focussing on Tau spreading and especially the cellular mechanism supporting this process (ie extracellular vesicles, free tau…etc). She develops animal models to follow Tau spreading and proposed immunotherapeutic approaches in collaboration with industrial partners from 2015 (UCB Biopharma, Belgium). Cell models and new tools (microfluidics and multielectrode arrays) are upgraded to follows cell-to-cell transfer mechanisms. She is also working in closed collaboration with the hospital (MMRC, ‘Lille Resources and Research Memory Centre’, Pr Florence Pasquier and Dr Vincent Deramecourt) to translate her own hypotheses to human samples (EcTAUsome cohort, NCT03381482) to better characterized the spreading process and finally define better therapeutic targets. She gets regular funding to supports her personal scientific projets. M. Colin is also the scientific supervisor of L2/L3 laboratories structures and is the supervisor of the GMOs manipulation agreements required for the team’s projects including viral vectors.
