Eksioglu Umit

ÜMİT EKŞİOĞLU MD, Ph.D. Dr. Ümit Eksioglu is a physician and researcher with expertise in ophthalmology and physiology. He was born in Ankara, Turkey in 1966, and graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1990. After serving as a general practitioner at the Mother and Child Health Center, he completed his ophthalmology residency training at the Ankara Training and Research Hospital Ophthalmology Department between 1994-1997. In 2001, he obtained his Ph.D. in Physiology from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Eksioglu's academic career also includes a Visiting Scholar position at the Department of Ophthalmology, Glaucoma Unit of the Washington University School of Medicine between 2003-2004. He is currently in charge of the Glaucoma Unit of the Baskent University Faculty of Medicine, Ophthalmology Department, where he focuses on providing patient care, conducting research, and training future ophthalmologists. Dr. Eksioglu is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Turkish Ophthalmological Association (TOA) Glaucoma unit and Ocular Traumatology and Medicolegal Ophthalmology. He was elected as a member of the administrative board of the TOA in 2017 and served as the executive board member of the TOA Glaucoma Society. Dr. Eksioglu's research interests include the pathophysiology of glaucoma, ocular trauma, and neuroprotection in ophthalmology.
