Michel Langlois

Dr. Michel Langlois, born in 1967 (Belgium), was trained in Medicine (1985-1992) and Clinical Biology (1992-1997) at the University of Ghent (Belgium). After his PhD defence on the haptoglobin polymorphism (promotor: Prof. Joris Delanghe) in 1997, he was postdoctoral researcher (FWO, Flanders) in 1998-2001. Since 2002, he continued his professional activities in clinical chemistry in AZ St.-Jan Hospital in Bruges, combined with a position of Visiting Professor at University of Ghent in 2009-2023. His area of interest and expertise is lipidology and cardiovascular risk biomarkers. Michel Langlois is founder and Past-President of the Royal Belgian Society of Laboratory Medicine (RBSLM), Past-President of the Belgian Atherosclerosis Society/Lipid Club, member of the Working Group - Clinical Chemistry (National Scientific Institute of Public Health "Sciensano"), Chair of Science Committee of the European Federation of Laboratory Medicine (EFLM) since 2022, and Associate Editor of the journal Clinical Chemistry – reviews section since 2023. His scientific activities resulted in more than 120 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, 5 scientific awards, and 10 chapters in medical textbooks.
