His research program has embodied many theoretical and experimental aspects of laser technology, nonlinear optics, short pulse generation, and wave propagation. His present research activities are targeting the development of ultrafast fiber-based laser sources, the demonstration of novel schemes for tunable lasers, the application of conical (Bessel) beams for materials processing, and the use of radially-polarized laser beams for electron acceleration and high-resolution imaging. He has served on many national and international committees.
