I specialise in the non-surgical and surgical management of disorders of the hip and knee.

I have particular interests in the treatment of young adult hip disorders and the treatment of arthritis of the hip and the knee.I take a holistic approach to the care of my patients, with the aim of ensuring they are relieved of pain and restored to the level of function they wish to achieve. I take the time to ensure patients are aware of the various options open to them and help them to choose the best treatments for them. I keep their goals and expectations at the heart of the care I deliver.

Part of my current research involves analysis of the National Joint Registry of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the largest of its kind in the world. This helps me to select the best implants and surgery for my patients, backed by strong evidence base and long term follow up.

I am an enthusiastic trainer and teacher and I co-direct a Masters degree in Orthopaedics, designed the Orthopaedic elements of the new Bristol Medical School curriculum and co-founded the largest Minor Surgery and Musculoskeletal update courses for GPs in the country. I find being actively involved in teaching the next generation of doctors and surgeons to be both stimulating and rewarding.
