His research on how quercetin and related compounds regulate metabolism in vitro and produce convertible effects in vivo is still going on. He demonstrated the effects of quercetin and ferulic acid on lipid storage and metabolism of human adipocytes, and revealed the mechanism of PPARα/RXRα dependence by using transcriptomics and metabonomics. He developed a new chromatographic method for highly specific, sensitive and accurate quantification of carbohydrates in cells and culture media, in vitro determination, food and beverages, blood and urine
