个人简介
Michael C. Larson (M’98) received the B.E. degree from the Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, CA, USA, in 1990, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1992 and 1996, respectively, where he researched micro-electro-mechanical tunable vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs).
He became a Visiting Researcher at the Central Research Laboratory, Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, in 1996, where he demonstrated long wavelength VCSELs based on GaInNAs active material. He joined the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 1997 to investigate multiwavelength parallel fiber optical interconnects for supercomputer applications. In 2000, he joined Agility Communications, Santa Barbara, CA, USA, to develop tunable semiconductor laser products for optical fiber communications based on the sampled grating distributed Bragg reflector (SGDBR) laser. At Agility, and thereafter as a part of JDSU and Lumentum, Milpitas, CA, USA, he has been actively involved in the development of a wide range of InP-based devices and components for telecommunications, including integrated laser-modulators, narrow linewidth tunable lasers, and photonic integrated circuits (PICs). He is currently a Research and Development director for coherent transmission PIC development.
Dr. Larson received the Young Scientist Award from the International Symposium on Compound Semiconductors in 2003 for contributions in tunable lasers and long wavelength VCSELs. He also served on the Technical Program Committee of the Optical Fiber Communications Conference from 2013 to 2018.
