Bio
Merel Aberle currently works at the NUTRIM School for Nutrition, Toxicology and Metabolism, Maastricht University. Merel does research in Cell Biology, Cancer Research and Oncology, and is interested in innovating treatment for pancreatic cancer patients with the focus on pancreatic cancer associated cachexia. She uses patient-derived 3D cell models of cancer (organoids) to aid in the characterisation of factors that influence fat and muscle metabolism and have an effect on drug sensitivity. Their most recent publication is 'Patient‐derived organoid models help define personalized management of gastrointestinal cancer'.
