Dr McAteer is the Deputy Provost and a Professor of Astronomy at New Mexico State University. Prior to this, as Department chair he was Director of Sunspot Solar Observatory and project manager of Apache Point Observatory and SDSS His research is funded by NASA, NSF, and AFRL as lead of the Solar Physics and Space Weather research group at NMSU. Current research interests: Solar Physics, Space Weather, Image Processing, Physics of the corona, solar wind, spectropolarimetry.
