Research: computational modeling of structures
My research interest is computational modeling of civil and building engineering structures. It comprises nonlinear finite element modeling. The challenge is to confront the structural behavior of lab tests and real world structures with a thorough understanding of the finite element analysis. This may require improving material models, upscaling micromechanical and mesomechanical material properties, accounting for probabilistic effects and improving solution strategies.
I am currently most interested in:
Development of safety formats for nonlinear finite element analysis of concrete structures
Assessing modeling uncertainties & improving solution strategies for
analysis of concrete infrastructures
analysis of earthquake-induced damage to surface structures
analysis of tunnel-induced settlement damage to surface structures
Nonlinear analysis with non-iterative approaches
Upscaling micromechanical and mesomechanical material properties for understanding
the behavior of fiber reinforced concrete (FRC)
the deteriorating impact of alkali–silica reaction (ASR) on concrete
Structural optimization (ESO)
